Better Governance Process communication for Push Protocol

Summary

The current governance process documentation is rather difficult to navigate for any average DAO member. And I want to simplify that using Syncvote (this is a product I am building) - the platform specifically designed to streamline workflows, facilitate decision-making, and ensure that every member’s input is considered.

I want community members to feel like they are navigating a clear and straightforward path, rather than getting lost in a sea of links.

Problems:

As a new member learning about Push DAO governance process and wanting to make new proposal to the DAO, I find these are the problems that create a barrier for new member to join and participating in the DAO:

  • The governance process is in docs, while the proposals are in the forum, templates are in github… so it’s really hard for members and admin to follow and keep track across different platforms.
  • The most important and high-frequency-used documents and links (eg: the most updated governance process, proposal templates, Snapshot spaces, .) are not pinned somewhere obvious on Forum & Discord, taking new DAO members a lot of time, patience and effort to navigate and onboard themselves.

Solution:

I’ve already made a new presentation of Push Governance Process and in the next step section below, I outline the actions needed for Push DAO to adopt Syncvote.

Next Step

I propose to use our redesigned workflow as the official governance process document.

  1. Replace governance process docs by Syncvote’s redesign workflow (Push governance process on Syncvote). To be specific, the governance process will be put with a hyperlink to the workflow. When community members click to this thread, it will lead them to Syncvote interface.
  2. Put the text and link in Governance Guide in Start here channel in Discord
  3. Create a box with “Push governance process framework” in: [Latest :classical_building: Governance Proposal]. Reason: Normally people will come right to the Governance Category when they think of Governance, so having some instructions there will bring good experiences for community members.

Conclusion:

The goal of this proposal is to improve the governance experience of the Push’s community members. I fully respected the current governance process and did not make any change to it.

For me personally, I’ve been joining hundred of DAOs since I start develop Syncvote and I find Push team is one of the most active and welcoming team, that’s why I would like to do my contribution to improve Push community.

I would also be happy to update the workflow if there’s anything mismatched or missing; or transfer the editor right for you anytime.

Thank you for dedicating your time to research Push Protocol’s Governance process and identifying areas for improvement. We are in the process of updating the DAO documentation to ensure it remains current, and incorporating the latest changes that have occurred in recent months.

I find that visual diagrams are an effective means of presenting information, and I appreciate what SyncVote has to offer in this regard. However, during our ongoing progressive decentralization, the official Push Documentation will continue to be accessible mainly at https://docs.push.org . Our goal is to consolidate all technical, non-technical, and DAO-related documentation in a single location. As we progress, the DAO will assume responsibility for these aspects, presenting more opportunities for enhancement in this area.

Would be interesting to discuss this matter in our upcoming Governance call to gauge the sentiment of the community. (Wednesday November 8th, 3PM UTC)

Hey @como , this is a great concept here, would love to see this adopted alongside the governance docs. Can Syncvote be used to detail other governance processes apart from proposals?

Push Grants in this new iteration will initiate as a collaborative effort between Push and the community. However, the grants council will have authority over various operational elements - which can potentially include docu for Grants.

not sure if thats what you had in mind, but your question made me think of it.

Not what I had in mind, but definitely a great idea to put documentation of the grants process under the grants council, a tool like syncvote would make it even easier to outline the process visually.
